Chasing that raw phone-snapshot look, so I built a tiny model just for skin detail

Skin detail works way better as a slider you can dial up or down than as a fixed strength.

I trained one before that just added detail, it worked, but the strength was hard to control — crank it up and faces blow out, keep it low and there’s no texture at all. This time I just made it a slider: low end keeps natural skin, high end brings in texture and blemishes, and you can slide anywhere in between to find your spot.

What I’m going for is honestly that phone-snapshot vibe — noise, visible real skin texture, not that over-retouched fake-smooth look. Every parameter came from trial and error, that’s just how realism works, you grind through it one tweak at a time.

You really need to view the comparisons at full resolution to see the difference, compressed they basically look the same — just flagging that upfront so nobody says “no difference” after looking at a thumbnail.

I tried the noise-heavy route too, too much noise and it just turns into a dirty-looking image, raw and dirty is a thin line

Slider’s nice, but I’d guess the mid-range is the hardest to tune, can you post two comparisons from the middle setting?
