Yo, Tencent just dropped their 3D generation model 2.0, and they straight up open-sourced it too. It can auto-rig bones.

Tencent just dropped their 3D generation model 2.0, and it’s open-source right out the gate. What really gets me is the AI auto-rigging and animation generation—supposedly spits out game-ready 3D assets in minutes. Anyone doing game art knows how soul-crushing the whole rigging and weight-painting grind is after modeling. Automating even part of that is a huge time-saver.

Back in the day, 3D generation mostly stopped at static models, and you’d still have to manually clean up topology and rigging for ages. Now they’ve thrown rigging and animation into the mix, which is a solid step toward pipeline-ready assets. Of course, whether the auto-rig can handle complex moves or the topology is clean enough—that’s something you’ll only know by throwing it into a real project. The open-source part is the real MVP; at least you can download it and tinker yourself. Indie devs should definitely check this out.

If that auto-rigging thing actually works, I could save myself a few all-nighters.

The thing I’m worried about is the topology turning into a complete mess. Sure, I rigged it up, but once it starts moving, everything clips through everything else.

“Minute-level asset generation sounds great on paper, but first let’s check if the export format supports the mainstream engines.”

Open-sourced right on release, gotta give props for this one.

Nice, that’s sick.

So friendly for small teams, art production has always been the bottleneck.

Anyone tried this in Unity yet?

Marking this, gonna download it over the weekend and give it a try.
