Sora got taken down in China, and the domestic video models totally stepped up and caught that wave.

Just saw Sora’s gone from the domestic app stores. On one hand you got that, on the other hand Alibaba’s video model is climbing up the charts. Feels like these two paths are diverging more and more. Back in the day everyone just assumed the good stuff was all overseas, but now when it comes to making e-commerce assets and short video content, everyone I know is actually using domestic tools—they handle overseas compliance, understand Chinese prompts, and the generation costs are manageable.

The difference isn’t just about who has the flashier specs, it’s about whether it can actually fit into real work scenarios.

Overseas models are strong, no doubt, but if they can’t plug into your daily workflow, they’re useless. Not saying we gotta pick a winner here, it’s just that the problems each side is prioritizing are definitely not the same anymore.

Yeah, for real. I’m doing all my main image-to-video stuff with domestic tools now. Just one sentence in Chinese and it gets it. So much less hassle.

Honestly, compliance overseas is such a pain. I don’t dare to just upload client assets willy-nilly.

“Parting ways” might be a bit too strong, but yeah, we definitely have different priorities.

Totally agree. Real-world results and benchmark scores are two completely different things.

Forget about whether it’s getting taken down or not—being able to call it reliably is the real deal.

Real-world capability and benchmark scores are two different things, when it comes to keeping client material compliant, foreign services are risky to upload to carelessly, domestic ones actually give more peace of mind
