I’d been using the portable unzip-and-run version forever, only switched to desktop when my drive ran out of space. During the migration I almost copied dozens of GB of models over again. Turns out you don’t need to — during install you can point it at your old install directory, and it automatically picks up the user files and models inside. It doesn’t move the models, it just symlinks them to the new version. That saved a ton of disk space and time, both sides share the same weights, no double storage. My old folder was in that portable setup on the D drive, once I picked the path it just hooked right up. Only heads-up is back up anything important before migrating, and don’t move the source folder around after the symlink is set up, or both sides can end up unable to find the files. Overall it’s a lot smoother since switching, at least I don’t have to manually unzip and mess around anymore. Anyone run into broken symlinks when migrating?
