Making money with AI art? The hard part isn't knowing how to generate images.

Been doing AI image generation gigs for the better part of a year now, and the biggest takeaway is: being able to generate images is just the entry ticket, the real hard part is everything outside the images. Clients don’t pay for pretty pictures—they want deliverables that match the brand’s vibe, pass review, and get revised until they’re satisfied.

Communicating requirements, keeping character consistency, handling copyright and licensing, and delivering on deadline—that’s where the real bottlenecks are. Technically, SD and Flux are easy to pick up, but turning a one-time wow into a repeatable, negotiable, contract-ready service is a whole different skill set.

I’ve seen tons of people who can generate killer images but can’t land a single job—the problem is never that the model isn’t strong enough.

“Being able to generate images is just the entry ticket” — that one hits hard.

I’ve been burned on copyright licensing too. Client came after me for it later.

I’ve seen way too many people who can generate fire images but can’t land a single commission. The problem really isn’t the model.

“Keep tweaking until it’s perfect” — that’s the part that drains you the most, so make sure you factor it into your quote.

Being able to communicate what the client actually wants is way more valuable than just knowing how to use SD.

Turning that one-time wow factor into a repeatable service—that’s where the real bar is.

When I take commissions now, I always negotiate the number of revision rounds upfront, otherwise the client will just grind me down.

Pretty cool stuff.
