Luma AI just dropped their text-to-video model, and it's free to test out too.

That US company Luma AI just dropped a text-to-video model, and the key thing is it’s free for testing—pretty nice for folks like us who want to dip our toes in first. Not sure about max length, resolution, or consistency since the title didn’t mention it, and I haven’t actually run it myself yet—I’ll update once I get hands-on.

There’s a bunch of new players popping up in text-to-video right now, each with their own approach. What makes Luma’s stand out, and does it have any edge over the competition? Hard to tell from just the press release.

Anyone already in the queue for testing, drop a real clip to show the results—especially motion smoothness and whether it messes up, those are my top concerns. Since it’s free to test, it’s worth grabbing a spot to play around.

How’s the motion consistency? That’s my main concern.

Anyone know how many seconds it can generate?

Front row watching.

Honestly, the motion coherence is just okay in my testing. It’s fine when the camera stays still, but as soon as you try a push-in or pull-out, it all falls apart.

I’ve poked around with consistency a bit, short shots are fine, but once a character does a big movement it starts blurring at the edges
