Jimeng's been hiking prices three times in a month. Anyone making tools with it's gonna have to redo their math now.

This post on Sohu is kinda freaking me out—they said Jimeng raised prices three times in a month, and 15-second videos went from a few cents to five bucks. The worst thing for a product guy is when upstream costs jump like this. Not long ago, I thought AI video generation was so cheap you could mess around with it all day, but once supply and demand got tight, prices shot up instantly.

The title also mentioned computing power being tight, plus Sora scaling back, so demand got slammed over here—price hikes aren’t hard to understand.

But for a small team like us wrapping APIs for secondary development, costs going up tenfold just kills our old pricing model. Whether to eat it ourselves or pass it on to users is a real dilemma. Have you guys adjusted your prices recently?

Ten times the gain, who can handle that?

Told you guys, don’t chain your business model to someone else’s API.

Batch users are crying—those few cents per image were seriously a steal.

You gotta figure out whether the compute crunch is just a temporary thing or the new normal.

If you pass the cost onto users, you’re gonna lose a chunk of them.

I’m already looking for alternative models.
