Been messing around with Flux's plastic skin for half a year, and SRPO finally fixed that oily shine.

Been using Flux for photorealistic stuff and kept getting annoyed by that plastic skin look and the classic “Flux jawline.” My old fix was stacking skin LoRAs, but the problem is most of them only work on the initial 1024×1024 image—once you upscale, that greasy shine comes right back, total waste of time.

This week I tried Tencent’s SRPO, which is specifically for adding realistic skin texture details. It’s on Hugging Face. The original is massive—47GB, no way my 16G VRAM could handle it. Luckily the community dropped a distilled version fast. I got Wikeeyang’s FP8 8bit running on my 4080 16G, and there’s also rockerBoo’s BF16 and befox’s GGUF if you want options—GGUF is smaller, great for pure local use.

Compared same seed and prompt side by side, the skin actually has that pore texture now, no more waxed look. Both the original and distilled versions come with ComfyUI workflow JSONs, just grab them from the repo. If you’re tight on VRAM, I’d say go straight for FP8.

Flux chin LOL that’s such an accurate way to put it :joy:

Mark, gonna try fp8 on my 4080 later.

47GB for the original? No thanks, thank god there’s a distilled version.

The “falls apart when you upscale” thing is way too real. I used to think it was just my workflow being messed up.

I’ve run into that “zoom in and it falls apart” thing too. For a while I thought I’d messed up my settings
