Now that finals are over, I finally had time to mess around with both tools. My first impression of DALL-E was that it’s super capable but really hard to please—I’d spend ten minutes crafting what I thought was the perfect prompt, and the generated image would just be… okay. Not ugly, but not what I had in my head either. Switching to the other one was even more frustrating at first—the UI felt weird, and it took me forever to figure out how to use it.
But once I got the hang of it, wow. I asked it to draw a futuristic city packed with skyscrapers and flying cars, and the result genuinely blew me away. Honestly, I initially thought this thing was all hype, but I’m glad I didn’t delete it and kept trying.
The biggest hurdle is still writing prompts—it’s kind of like writing poetry, where you have to use words to precisely summon the image in your mind. Comparatively, DALL-E is more forgiving—even if your wording is rough, it still gets it—but because of that forgiveness, it’s less controllable.
